Mary Ellen Wood

I'm Mary Ellen Wood, GRI (Graduate, Realtor® Institute) an experienced residential Realtor with RE/MAX of Boulder, Colorado. I moved to Colorado in 1997 and currently live in the lovely city of Louisville with my family. I'm actively involved in my community and schools and enjoy spending my free time in the beautiful Colorado outdoors. I love being a Realtor because it's about developing relationships and helping people achieve their goals and dreams. My ultimate mission is for my clients to be happy with the results of my services. As a Realtor, I'm here to guide my clients through all the details of their real estate transactions. I work hard to earn my clients' trust by providing experience, real estate market knowledge, and unparalleled customer service. What my clients say about me is testament to the hard work I put in on their behalf. Just go to my Testimonials page to see my Realtor reviews. My background is diverse, as I spent a number of years in engineering, sales and marketing within the high tech industry. I left my high-tech career to follow my passion, but tech has served me well as a real estate agent! Over the past 20 years, I've bought, renovated, flipped, rented, and/or sold many of my own properties. I've acted as General Contractor of an environmentally conscious luxury condo renovation in downtown Boulder and major home remodel in Louisville. Therefore I'm not just a residential expert, but also understand the industry from the client's perspective. I know exactly what my clients are looking for and expect from their Boulder area Realtor - and I deliver. While experienced with a variety of types of real estate, my expertise is with single-family residential homes. As a parent of two school age children, I understand the challenges of finding homes and making moves that accommodate the whole family. I'm a neighborhood expert and can help you find the resources you need when it's time to move or relocate. When you're ready to hire a Realtor, I would love the opportunity to help you sell or find that special home. It would be my privilege to provide you with information, education, and communication to make the best decisions possible. I look forward to making your Colorado real estate dreams a reality.

A Certified Home Inspector Helps Cover your Assets

Considering all of the moving parts and checklists and transactions of purchasing a home, most home buyers put a team of professionals together to get the job done. Realtor? On speed dial. Morgtage lender? Check. Moving company? A no-brainer. Certified home inspector? Umm, I guess so…? Home inspections are not the sexiest part of purchasing real estate. They’re not as exciting as picking out the property, working with a designer, or even choosing flooring and cabinets in a new build. They are crucial nonetheless. Please believe me when I tell you this: working with a Certified Home Inspector is incredibly …

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve: I wish I bought that property!

A friend was talking about how she wishes she bought a condo in a mountain resort town back when she first moved to Colorado. It’s a story that repeats itself; “If I only bought a place back then, it would be worth so much now!” Have you wistfully thought about a particular property you considered buying but didn’t because it seemed too much of a financial stretch? My advice to you is this: don’t shy away from today’s housing market only to create regret in the future. I’m here to help you navigate your real estate options and give you a snapshot of what’s available now and in the future. New to the area and not sure where to begin? …

‘SKO Buffs! Buying Property for Your College Student Versus Dorm Life

If you have a college-bound student you’ve probably run a lot of numbers on what it will cost. You’ve factored for tuition, learning materials, computers, and room and board, plus extra spending money. The estimated cost for an in-state student to attend the University of Colorado Boulder is $30,0000 with half going toward education and half funneled to living expenses. That’s a big expense on both sides. Have you considered buying property for your student’s housing versus paying “rent” for dorm life? Financially an investment property may make sense to build equity, potentially gain a tax deduction, and have your student’s roommates pay …
