In the mid- to late-1800’s, Erie was a thoroughfare for stagecoaches and trains traveling between Denver and Laramie, WY. This convenient location for travelers still serves to this day. Nestled east of Boulder and north of Lafayette, its coordinates are ideal for those who wish to have quick access to Denver International Airport, thriving job centers in Louisville, Longmont, and Boulder, or simply live in a quieter yet amenity-rich burb. The nod to the past is held dear on quaint old town Briggs Street, named for the first coal mine in Weld County. The historic buildings along the street deliver what the growing population wants: good coffee, craft beer, excellent food and a sense of community. I think to move into this area now must be what it was like to buy into Boulder or Louisville decades ago, before they were “discovered.” You can feel the bustling energy of both town and character.
As for home choices, Erie’s Residential and Commercial Construction Map shows clearly how many new neighborhood communities are currently being built. This is a Front Range town where your money still goes a long way. The median sales price for the first half of 2017 increased by 4.4% to $473,000. It's a solid value compared to what you'll find in Boulder.
The town is divided into two counties and therefore two school districts: Boulder Valley School District and St. Vrain Valley School District. Erie houses public and private schools from elementary through high school, with a new BVSD Elementary School built in 2017. Great Schools shows the town boasts an 8 of 10 rating.
